FROM BRIAN’S CAMPSITE
What’s In My Rig
Camping gear I actually use and keep bringing back.
Some of it has been with me for years. Some of it is cheap. This is a growing look at what earns its space in my camping setup, with the useful parts and the annoyances included.

THE FALL LOADOUT
The diesel heater in my setup
I’ve used this heater for about three to four seasons with my Smittybilt XL rooftop tent. It has become one of the things I keep bringing back for trips in cold weather.
A warmer tent has made those chilly mornings a lot more comfortable for us. That’s why it has a place here.
Before using a heater that burns fuel: Follow the manufacturer’s installation, exhaust routing, ventilation, clearance, and operating instructions. Heaters that burn fuel can produce carbon monoxide. Keep the combustion unit and exhaust outside the tent, and use a working carbon monoxide detector.
More gear, as it earns its place.
I’ll add to this as I work through my setup. If I replace something, I’ll tell you why. Bring the gear that works for your trip and your budget.
